She was later adopted by Yvonne Cole and her husband's family friends who raised her. Together with his brother Sean, Keyshia was first introduced to the music industry in 12 years when she met and recorded with MC Hammer. She has since formed a friendship with Tupac Shakur, who promised to help launch his singing career before he died unexpectedly.
Cole had her first child, a boy named Daniel Hiram Gibson Jr. Keyshia currently live in Ohio and Georgia. Keyshia and Daniel are engaged and plan to marry in March.
